Two entire years of creating content, working with brands, shooting 5 outfits a day on a Sunday afternoon to meet all of my deadlines for the following week – it sounds exhausting, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Over the last two years I look back and ask myself why I actually started Spoonful of Trish and the initial reason may come as a surprise to some of you. Rewind to 2016, I started selling clothes on Poshmark and absolutely fell in love with community of posh sellers and that this little side hustle enabled me to try out all the new trends while recycling them to a new closet when the seasons changed.
With nearly 300,000 Poshmark followers, I thought starting a blog would help drive more users to my page, aka more sales. I never in a million years actually thought this website would turn into becoming a full-blown influencer working directly with my all-time favorite brands.
I get asked a lot how I balance it all: working a 9-5, being a wife, eating/sleeping/trying to exercise while simultaneously working to grow my platform. During the week there’s a lot of early mornings and late evenings emailing back and forth with brands, sending invoices, editing photos, drafting creative captions, engaging with followers, and tons of other behind the scenes work.
My weekends usually consist of shooting no less than 5 campaigns to post throughout the the following week – which either entails bringing 5 outfits to a location such a Georgetown and changing in my car between looks, or setting up product shoots inside my apartment or at hotels I’m working with.
Blogging/influencing has become such a passion for me and a creative outlet for me to express myself – and I pour every ounce of spare time working to create the best content and inspiration for my followers. Spoonful of Trish went from a hobby to a side business which has grown from 4,000 to 12,000 followers in the last year – which is so incredibly humbling.
I also spend a lot of time connecting with other bloggers to bounce ideas off each other, share our experiences, and form a community of collaboration and not competition. I’ve learned so much about the industry in the last 2 years I love to pass on any tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way as I truly want all of my blogger friends to succeed – I might even start a blogger course one day soon.
Thank you from the bottom of the heart for all of your support these last 2 years – I can’t wait to see what year 3 brings!
How are you? Happy Summer. Happy Quarantine. Apologies in advance for the lack of events worth noting over the last several months being stuck inside. I am happy to report I finally made it out of DC for a quick drive up to Pennsylvania visit my girlfriend for the weekend to celebrate her recent engagement!
Since I am desperate for any sort of celebration these days, I took it upon myself to stage a mini bachelorette weekend which consistedof winery hopping with our “she said yaaas” cups and visiting the most beautiful botanical garden you will ever see.
If you haven’t heard of Longwood Gardens, please take it upon yourself to check it out because it truly is one of the most stunning places I have ever been. My friend has an annual membership so she can literally visit everyday if she wanted, and I find myself lucky enough to be her +1.
This garden is widely popular and it’s a near miracle we were able to capture so many pictures without people in the background as they are limiting capacity to timed slots due to the pandemic. In all honestly, these may be some of my favorite photos to date. Longwood was closed for about two months due to COVID therefore they now have pretty strict social distancing guidelines put in place in order for everyone to stay safe while admiring the indoor and outdoor gardens.
After Longwood, we visited both Galer Estate along with the adorable WAYVINE Vineyard and Winery while attempting our best to stay cool in the 90+ degree heat but failed miserably. We finished off our evening back at Longwood for the fountain show which is definitely a must see.
Even though everyone’s summer plans are being cancelled left and right, I was happy to get away for a last minute weekend outside the walls of the city to enjoy the outdoors, good friends and good wine.

We finally made it to March and I’m so excited to use this month as an excuse to brighten up my wardrobe although it still is very chilly up in DC. I don’t believe in following the rule that you can only wear white between Easter and Labor Day, as long as you make sure the rest of your outfit can easily transition between the crazy weather during this time of year.
I’ve honestly never tried on a pair of white jeans I loved this much, until I came across this wide-legged pair from Rollas. These jeans are seriously so versatile and flattering, and they are the perfect piece to wear from work to happy hour. Keep scrolling to see the three different ways I have styled these jeans for spring, and you can also shop all of the outfit details below through LIKE.to.KNOW.it.
ANIMAL PRINT BLOUSE

For as long I can remember I always had dreams of attending New York Fashion Week, even before I started blogging. Sometimes the stars align up perfectly and dreams can become a reality. Here’s how it all went down..
I was originally supposed to be traveling out of town for a work-related conference the weekend of NYFW, so I already knew and accepted the fact that this wasn’t going to my year to make it up to Big Apple. My sister-in-law was the one who landed tickets to the Rebecca Minkoff show which would have been my ultimate top choice of shows to attend this year. I’ve been a huge Rebecca Minkoff fan for years and would have picked her show over anyone else if I ever had the opportunity. I found out the morning she left for New York that my work meeting had been cancelled. This was it, a door opened up to an opportunity of a lifetime and all I needed to do is get up to NYC.
I booked a 9:25 AM train ticket at 8:24 AM, and of course missed that train trying to scramble to pack up to get everything I needed for a night in the city. I rebooked my train ticket while riding my Uber to Union Station for 10:00 AM, which happened to be $9 cheaper (score!), and I finally made it on my way. I spent the majority of the train ride getting ready as I would have to book it to the hotel as soon as I arrived in New York.
I arrived at the hotel a little after 1:00 PM and quickly changed into the outfit I packed straight from my newest shipment from FashionPass, and we were out the door on our way to the 2:00 PM show. I didn’t really know what to expect when we arrived but it was seriously a dream come true and I’ll hold onto these memories of my first NYFW show for life.
Not only was Rebecca’s spring collection amazing, it was so insanely cool to see her there in the flesh. Now that I’ve (somehow) experienced the reality of New York Fashion week once, I can’t wait to actually make plans to attend in the future as it’s such an amazing experience for a fashion lover like myself. After the show ended we were obviously inspired to head down to the Rebecca Minkoff storefront down in Soho to get in some shopping before heading back to DC.
