Anniversary Getaway at the W Scottsdale

This is a sponsored blog post in collaboration with the W Scottsdale.

Hi friends!

I cannot believe I am now writing my 3rd wedding anniversary trip blog post on Spoonful of Trish – time is flying by!

Every October, Randy and I have been splurging on a 1-week anniversary trip, and this year we flew out west to the desert to road trip around Arizona, Utah and Nevada. The first few nights of our trip we stayed in Northern, AZ doing all of the outdoorsy things, therefore for our anniversary night we knew we wanted to be where we could get dressed up for a night and the W Scottsdale was the perfect choice.

I’ve actually stayed at the W Scottsdale once previously on my only other visit to Scottsdale, so I already knew from my experience that we would not be disappointed. Since we were traveling during COVID-19, we were greeted upon arrival to the hotel with signage throughout to remind all guests to maintain social distance, and to wear masks in all public areas. The W is also providing masks to those who do not have one while limiting occupancy and seating capacities throughout the property to be in compliance with Arizona local and state safety measures.

After dropping our luggage off in our insanely beautiful suite, we headed straight down to the WET Pool Deck for some sunshine and cocktails. The pool at the W Scottsdale is open 24/7 for guests and features private cabanas, VIP tables, daybeds and lounge chairs. Since we were in Scottsdale during the week, we were only joined by a couple of hotel guests but we appreciated that the W is limiting and monitoring pool occupancy to 50% on a first come first serve basis.

After soaking in enough afternoon sunshine, we headed back up to the room to sip on champagne while getting ready for our anniversary dinner. The W staff was so thoughtful to send up a bottle of champagne to our room with a sweet anniversary note. We stayed in a Marvelous Suite featuring a King bed, 1.5 baths, and balcony overlooking the pool. We were blown away with how modern and spacious our room was, and I posted a full video tour on my instagram feed here.

For dinner we wanted to explore Scottsdale’s vibrant nightlife scene, so we went to the highly recommended Toca Madera right down the road. Toca Madera offers a modern take on traditional Mexican cuisine with incredible cocktails as well – I would highly recommend!

After a very relaxing night’s sleep, we woke up to perfect weather and knew we just needed to get on some extra pool time before it was time to check out. I also spent some time sipping on my coffee on our huge balcony overlooking the beautiful mountain and city views.

After my 2nd stay at the W Scottsdale, I can without a doubt recommend this hotel as you will be in close proximity to discover the city’s high-profile shopping, innovative restaurants, eclectic arts district and vibrant nightlife. The W Scottsdale is also the first and only W Hotel in the state of Arizona and it features 236 guest rooms including 39 lavish suites.

For dining and drinks, the W Scottsdale features Arizona’s only Sushi Roku restaurant, and also offers three chic destination bars – the W Living Room, Shade Lounge and Sunset Lawn. Signature hotel services and amenities include the Whatever/Whenever® concierge service, Wheels® valet, FIT® fitness center, WET®, WIRED Business Center and P.A.W. – Pets Are Welcome™.
